SMART4ENV is a project aimed at enhancing the research and innovation capacities of TUBITAK Marmara Research Center (TUBITAK MAM) to boost its scientific standing, attract more interest, and improve its networking channels. The project focuses on promoting scientific excellence in the field of smart environmental solutions for addressing the challenges of climate change in water, agriculture, and public health sectors.

The project will improve the research and knowledge transfer capabilities of TUBITAK MAM and provide capacity-building opportunities for its permanent scientists and early-stage researchers. It will also facilitate collaboration between academia, industry, and stakeholders in Turkey with a focus on sustainable research, international networking, mobility, and integration into the European Research Area.

By working with EU partners who have a proven track record of scientific excellence and impact on national policies, the project will enhance the skills and experiences of TUBITAK MAM’s research staff, including a new generation of young scientists.

At a scientific level, the project aims to expand the community of competitive, prestigious researchers at TUBITAK MAM, connecting them to international and relevant R&I systems and supported by skilled R&I managers with strong international networks. At a social level, the project expects to improve environmental quality, public health, customer experience, and communication through new intelligent, connected, and responsive environmental services. At an economic level, the project will drive innovation in the smart environmental solutions industry, improving the profitability of regional companies and creating new job opportunities.
