With the desire to move towards a circular economy model and a substantial reduction in their water footprint, both livestock farms and the meat sector are beginning to consider the challenge of water recovery and reuse in the processing of their raw materials.

It is therefore important to determine where and how water is used in the sector in order to identify possible collection points for the possible reuse of water both in the production process and on livestock farms.

Thus, the main objective of this project is the development and validation of a technical guide for advice, both for the livestock sector and in the meat processing industry, which includes all the previous results obtained in water recovery studies using innovative technologies and which allows the sector to identify those possible catchment points with a high potential for water recovery.

However, the development of this guide is expected to contribute to promoting the regeneration and reuse of water in livestock farms and meat processing industries, thus boosting the circular economy, sustainability and competitiveness of the different sectors in Catalonia.
