End Date: 30/09/2024
Air quality is fundamental for animal welfare, health and productivity in confined buildings with a limited and relatively closed living space, such as pig farms. Temperature, humidity, concentrations of ammonia (NH3), carbon dioxide (CO2) and hydrogen sulphide (H2S) are the most important environmental factors in intensive pig farming.
For this reason, the present demonstration activity aims to transfer the knowledge generated and available at the BETA Technology Center on sustainable technology issues applied to livestock farming through the validation in real conditions of a technological system programmed in open software for monitoring environmental conditions and the concentration of gases in pig farms.
The prototype will be validated in a pig farm in the Osona region. With this technological solution, breeders will have the opportunity to generate data that can be used to improve the living conditions of livestock, data useful for the optimization of production processes and data that can be shared to optimize good practices in livestock management.
Activity financed through the Technology Transfer Operation 01.02.01 of the Rural Development Program of Catalonia 2014-2020.
