BETA TC joins the COST Action NEXUSNET
NEXUSNET will work to improve the understanding of the shared challenges between water, energy and food resource management.
Lorenzo Proia, coordinator of the Applied Ecology and Global Change line of the BETA TC at UVic-UCC, has initiated his participation in NEXUSNET, a newly created COST Action. The COST Action are interdisciplinary networks that bring together researchers from across Europe to open new avenues of work on a particular topic and have a duration of four years. Their activities are usually oriented towards academia, SMEs, public institutions and other relevant organisations.
NEXUSNET will work hand in hand with policy makers and the business sector to improve today’s understanding of the shared challenges between water, energy and food resource management. This should generate new knowledge and best practices that will foster coherence in new policies affecting them.
BETA TC will be part of working group 4, which will focus on the creation and dissemination of scientific articles and the adaptation of the results to generate communication actions. This working group will be highly relevant to the objectives of the network, as the aim is to translate the academic knowledge generated into practical and applicable knowledge, to ensure that it has a significant impact both in Europe and beyond.
This is not the first participation of BETA TC researchers in a COST Action. Lorenzo Proia himself has also been involved in the activities of a European research network investigating episodes of bad taste and odour in drinking water (WATERTOP).
