The GreenHood project tackles nutrient pollution, particularly nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P), which harm ecosystems and biodiversity. It aims to reduce nutrient imbalances through innovative recovery technologies, nature-based solutions, and improved management practices. Over four years, the project will promote circular nutrient flows by converting waste into biological fertilizers while integrating sustainable business and governance models to create long-term environmental benefits.

Focusing on four European regions—Spain, the Netherlands-Belgium, Finland, and Norway—the project will implement tailored solutions for nutrient runoff, agricultural waste, and aquaculture pollution. Using advanced technologies like anaerobic digestion, membrane processes, and precision fertilization, GreenHood will develop scalable, practical solutions.

By 2028, it aims to reduce nitrogen and phosphorus pollution, support farmers and industries with sustainable tools, and influence European policies for better nutrient management, contributing to a more ecologically balanced future.
