The PROSPER project aims to demonstrate the technical and economic viability of recycling bioplastics (plastics manufactured from renewable resources) in an industrial environment, promoting a circular economy that closes the life cycle of these materials. The project proposes to integrate innovative polymers such as Polylactic Acid (PLA) and aliphatic-aromatic polyesters (AAPE). The BETA TC evaluates the sustainability of the project using the Sustainable and Safe by Design (SSBD) methodology, which guarantees environmental respect and safety throughout the life cycle of the materials. In addition, PROSPER develops new identification technologies and proposes policy tools, such as Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), to facilitate an efficient and sustainable industrial transition towards the use of bioplastics.
