BiocircularCAP analyses innovative projects and knowledge generated in the framework of the Operational Groups of the Catalan Government, as well as Horizon 2020, LIFE and other calls with Catalan participation and/or potential application in Catalonia. It focuses on the field of reuse of by-products and organic and inorganic waste products and surpluses from the agri-food industry, in order to ensure a global vision of the process and the skills acquired in this sector.

This demonstrative activity energises actors in the agri-food field, to facilitate cooperation and successfully replicate innovative solutions that have been previously technically tested. This project also aims to weave new alliances between companies, in order to promote the valorisation of by-products that may have a market niche, such as the waste obtained in the cheese manufacturing process, the generation of biogas from slaughterhouse waste or the creation of new food products from proteins of low commercial value.

BiocircularCAP will give a second life to innovative projects already implemented, identifying their benefits and shortcomings and transferring the new knowledge to various actors in the Catalan agri-food sector. In this way, the aim is to ensure a more sustainable and profitable economic activity that responds to the new demands and trends of the circular bioeconomy, while contributing to the development and improvement of new public policies through the connection and dialogue between the different actors in the sector.
