Ikhlas Laasri is a predoctoral researcher at BETA Technological Centre, whose research focuses on the valorisation of food waste especially dealing with aquaculture by-products. Her area of expertise involve extraction of collagen and free amino acids from shrimps and fish waste. Over the years, she also worked on process optimization of various extraction methods such as solid state fermentation and bacterial protease, specifically for the beneficiation from aquaculture waste streams. Currently, she is working on BioreFish project, to extract protein hydrolysates and collagen from fish waste via solid state enzymatic hydrolysis and solid state fermentation and further investigating its application as a potential biostimulant in agriculture.
