Project Summary:

Interreg MED Green Growth is the second phase of the Horizontal Project in the “Green Growth axis” of the transnational European Cooperation Programme for the Mediterranean area, the Interreg MED Programme. Green Growth is a thematic community promoting green and circular economy in the Mediterranean region by enhancing cross-sectoral innovation practices through an integrated and territorially-based cooperation approach. The community consists of 14 projects connecting 165 partners from 13 countries in the Mediterranean. These projects tackle topics from food systems, eco-innovation, smart cities to waste management.

The community supports its projects in their communication and capitalisation efforts, thus increasing their impact at the policy level and ensuring their potential transfer and replication of results to other territories. The Union for the Mediterranean labelled the Green Growth Community in October 2019, thereby acknowledging its potential to advance cooperation in the transition to a green, circular and inclusive economy and to deliver concrete benefits to the citizens of the Mediterranean region.

The Interreg MED Green Growth project is coordinated by the BETA Technological Centre and counts with a total of 7 partners from 6 countries (Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Belgium). This project builds on the work done by the Interreg MED SYNGGI project (2016-2019). The project has been 85% co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Interreg MED Horizontal Programme.
