UVic-UCC becomes part, through BETA, of the new TECNIO Association

The aim of this new entity is to group and make visible the activity of research groups with the TECNIO seal

The UVic-UCC has become part of the new TECNIO Association that on Monday was formed between all the Catalan universities, the I-CERCA foundation and the CSIC. This new association, created to promote technology transfer and connection with the business world, consists of 59 research groups that currently have TECNIO accreditation, as is the case of the BETA Technology Centre of the UVic-UCC.

The TECNIO seal is awarded by ACCIÓ, the agency for business competitiveness of the Department of Enterprise and Employment, and identifies technology developers in Catalonia to facilitate their connection with companies. The new association will receive a grant of 300,000 euros from ACCIÓ over the next 3 years to strengthen the market vision of these agents and bring them closer to companies.

The aim of this new entity is to bring together and make visible the activity of the research groups with the TECNIO seal, foster their collaboration and promote them as an instrument of connection with the business and the administration. The Autonomous University of Barcelona, the University of Barcelona, the University of Girona, the University of Lleida, the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, the Pompeu Fabra University, the Ramon Llull University, the Rovira i Virgili University, the University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia (UVic-UCC), the I-CERCA foundation and the CSIC are all members of TECNIO with the aim of accelerating the transfer of knowledge from the research laboratory environment to society.

The presentation ceremony of the new association, which took place this Monday afternoon at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), was attended by the Catalan Minister of Business and Employment, Roger Torrent i Ramió; the Catalan Minister of Research and Universities, Gemma Geis; the director general of Industry and CEO of ACCIÓ, Natàlia Mas; the director general of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Lluís Juncà; the UAB parish priest, Javier Lafuente; and the president of the TECNIO Association, Nora Ventosa.
