Job description

The BETA Technology Center is formed by a young multidisciplinary team of more than 100 researchers and is looking for a dynamic person eager to be part of this adventure. We are looking for a junior postdoctoral researcher with experience in the area of soil and nutrient management. The successful candidate will participate in several European and national projects related to soil and nutrient management. Specifically, the successful candidate will have a relevant role in the Horizon Europe project NUTRIBUDGET, where he/she will work mainly on the application of mitigation measures to optimize nutrient flows from three agricultural pillars (livestock, crops and agroprocesses), as well as in the Horizon Europe project DELISOIL, where various organic amendments obtained from agri-food waste will be evaluated and their stability, biosafety and molecular parameters will be determined, and the impacts on soil health, agronomic performance and environmental risks of these fertilizers will also be assessed.

Functions and duties:

  • Planning and execution of biochemical, biotechnological and/or microbiological laboratory trials for agronomic evaluation of mitigation measures.
  • Planning and execution of field experiments on the application of mitigation measures.
  • Development of new soil analysis methodologies
  • Development of soil and nutrient management fertilization strategies
  • Technical management of competitive multi-stakeholder R&D projects
  • Participation in the development of new project proposals for new funding.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in the field: Agronomy, Biotechnology, Plant Production, Environmental Sciences or similar #(or have the doctoral thesis defended at the moment of contracting)# (or have the doctoral thesis defended at the moment of contracting)#.
  • University degree in the field: Agronomy, Biotechnology, Plant Production, Environmental Sciences or similar
  • Certification of Level C1 in Catalan or commitment to obtain it
  • Accreditation of Level B2 English or commitment to obtain it
  • Experience in soil and nutrient management such as: agronomic performance, nutrient balance, fertilization strategies, etc.
  • Experience in field trials and multi-stakeholder collaboration
  • Scientific publications in the proposed field of research
  • Good communication skills (written and oral) and ability to work independently and with internal and external teams in multidisciplinary and multicultural environments.
