The Med4Waste project at the EfE Conference organized in Cyprus by UNECE
The Environment for Europe (EfE) program is a regional platform at the highest level promoted by the United Nations.
Representatives of Med4Waste, a European project coordinated by the BETA Technological Center of UVic-UCC, have organized an event in the framework of the 9th conference of the EfE program that took place this week in Cyprus. The Environment for Europe (EfE) program is a unique regional platform at the highest level for dialogue on environment and sustainable development, driven by member states of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) region, intergovernmental institutions, non-governmental organizations, the private sector, academia and other major groups.
Since 1991, eight EfE conferences have been held, hosted by the countries of Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia. This year’s Nicosia Ministerial Conference will be the first EfE Ministerial Conference organized in the Mediterranean Region.
The Med4Waste capitalization project, funded by the ENI CBC Med program, aims to facilitate new governance models for integrated and efficient municipal waste management policies in the Mediterranean Region. For this reason, it organized a session parallel to the EfE to stimulate the exchange of knowledge and debate on the circular economy and the transformation of waste management models in the Mediterranean.
