The FERTIMANURE project, present in the European Sustainable Nutrient Initiative
ESNI, organised by the Biorefine Cluster Europe, is a space for discussion and exchange of knowledge.
Laia Llenas, deputy director of the BETA Technological Centre at UVic-UCC, presented the FERTIMANURE project at the European Sustainable Nutrient Initiative (ESNI), one of the main European events related to the management and recycling of nutrients, which took place on Tuesday 29 March online. ESNI, organised by the Biorefine Cluster Europe, is a space for discussion and exchange of knowledge that brings together policy makers, researchers, industry representatives and other entities related to the recycling and reuse of nutrients from the perspective of the circular bioeconomy.
This edition also saw the launch of the Nutrient Recycling Community, a platform aimed at fostering collaboration between relevant initiatives and projects around nutrient recycling in Europe. ESNI included a session on new policies, discussing how to achieve the targets set by the Farm to Fork strategy for reducing nutrient losses by 2030.
This year ESNI also featured a short presentation of the Sea2Land project, another H2020-funded project involving BETA TC. The Sea2Land project addresses similar issues to those being worked on by FERTIMANURE, but with a much more focused approach to the needs of the fishing and aquaculture industry.
