Maria Sofia Agosti is a Microbiologist with a Master’s degree in Microbiology (University of Oldenburg, Germany) and PhD candidate in Experimental Sciences and Technology. Her research at BETA focuses on the dissemination of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and pathogens between terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems. Using advanced molecular and bioinformatics techniques, she investigates the impacts of agricultural practices and wastewater treatment on environmental health, examining how anthropogenic activities influence the spread of AMR in natural ecosystems.
