CT BETA brings its expertise in governance projects to MedCat Days 2023
This year's edition focused on the theme of Euro-Mediterranean governance and territorial cooperation
The BETA Technology Centre of the UVic-UCC has actively participated in MedCat Partners Forum, one of the highlights of the MedCat Days 2023, which took place in Barcelona on 12 and 13 June. With the slogan “Transforming the Mediterranean”, this forum, organized by the Department of External Action of the Generalitat de Catalunya, together with the European Institute of the Mediterranean, aims to provide a space for meeting and dialogue for the actors of the Catalan external action in the Mediterranean.
This year’s edition focused on the theme of Euro-Mediterranean governance and territorial cooperation. The main objective was to explore the opportunity to move towards collaborative and transformative governance, as well as the emerging opportunities in this field. In addition, the possible alliances and synergies that can be generated to boost cooperation in this area have been addressed.
The BETA TC has had a prominent participation in this forum, sharing the experience of various initiatives that have contributed to foster collaboration between actors and promote sustainable development in the Mediterranean region. Mercè Boy, head of the Governance for Sustainability Area at BETA TC, moderated a session on the mechanisms and instruments that are possible thanks to the governance axis of the Euro-Mediterranean territorial cooperation programmes. Maria Calderó, project manager of the BETA TC, also participated in this session to talk about the Community4Innovation project.
Sergio Ponsá, director of the BETA TC, took part in a round table on the multilevel collaboration between actors and regions, the new ways of working that are driving the Euro-Mediterranean programmes and the positioning of Catalonia in the leadership of capitalisation and governance projects.
