BETA Technological center was born in November 2014 as a team of only 3 people. The enthusiasm and effort of our young, dynamic and multidisciplinary team has led us to be currently 70 people working cohesively with the mission of contributing to the sustainable development of rural societies to improve their competitiveness and quality of life.
The main impulse to fulfill this mission is both the execution of RTDI projects in the field of agri-food systems and environment and the transfer to the private sector of innovative and competitive technology that incorporates sustainability criteria. Another key aspect of our success has always been the international vision and projection, which has led us to participate in numerous networks and projects, weaving collaborations with relevant Catalan, Spanish, European and international entities.

Technical Specialist in software tool development, digitalisation and AI
We are seeking a Specialist Technician in software development, digitalisation and AI. The successful candidate will join the Green Digital Transition unit and will be involved in various highly innovative technological projects at the centre, taking responsibility for the development of digital solutions (applications, AI, etc.) in the fields of sustainability, research, innovation and technology transfer.
Senior Postdoctoral Researcher in the Field of Sustainable Agricultural and Food Systems
We are seeking an experienced senior postdoctoral researcher who has worked on climate change mitigation and adaptation activities relating to the study of regenerative agricultural practices and sustainable crops to prevent the loss of natural and agricultural biodiversity, as well as on strategies to improve plants’ biotic and abiotic resilience and increase their nutritional value.

El Centre BETA cerca incorporar un/a Responsable de Finances i Administració que, en dependència directa de Gerència, assumeixi la gestió econòmica del centre. La persona seleccionada serà responsable de la planificació, seguiment i control de l’activitat econòmica, vetllant pel bon funcionament dels processos financers i contribuint a la correcte execució econòmica dels projectes, especialment en l’àmbit de finançament competitiu. Es tracta d’una posició amb un fort component operatiu i de coordinació, amb interlocució directa amb Gerència i amb els equips tècnics i de recerca.
Laboratory Technician in the Instrumental Analysis Laboratory
We are seeking a Technician to work in the Centre’s instrumental analysis laboratory. The BETA Technology Centre has experienced exponential growth since its creation in late 2014, and since March 2021 has been operating from new premises with over 800 m² of laboratories and pilot plant facilities. Within these new facilities, the instrumental analysis laboratory is a key component and currently houses the following equipment: gas chromatographs (with ECD, FID, MS and TCD detectors), UV spectrophotometers, liquid chromatographs (HPLC and IC), CHN elemental analysers and flame atomic absorption spectroscopy.
Senior Technician to assist with the technical coordination of the NABATA project
We are looking for a senior technician with experience in agroecology to assist the project’s principal investigator in coordinating the technical implementation of the PRIMA project ‘Nurturing Agroecological Balance through Ancestral Traditions and Adaptation (NABATA)’* Growing Climate-Resilient Farming Systems from Traditional Roots’, and who will join the Sustainable Agricultural and Food Systems team at the BETA Technology Centre at the UVIC.
