SIRENA project aims to promote the use of Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) to tackle water-related challenges in the Mediterranean, such as droughts, floods, water scarcity, pollution and biodiversity loss. The project will test practical solutions that use or work with nature in different locations across Europe and North Africa, bringing together local communities, researchers, policymakers and other stakeholders. It will also provide training, support better water policies and use digital tools and data to help people choose the most suitable solutions. Ultimately, SIRENA wants to make Nature-Based Solutions a widely used and effective way to manage water more sustainably and help Mediterranean communities become more resilient to climate change.
