Adrià López-Baucells

Group coordinator

Adrià López-Baucells is a biologist and PhD in Biology and Biodiversity. His research focuses on applied ecology and the conservation of bats, mainly through the use of citizen science, with the Bat Monitoring Program and with a special interest in the use of cutting-edge technology for the conservation of biodiversity. He is particularly interested in the interaction between humans and bats, as well as the research and use of ecosystem services as a tool for connecting society, the natural environment and conservation.

Following this line of research, and over the last 20 years, he has worked both in Europe, Australia and the tropics. He has participated in international projects for the monitoring of wild populations of cave and forest species, mainly through bioacoustics, and always with the aim of improving conservation strategies and policies. He recently received the Ramon y Cajal grant. Thanks to this opportunity, he currently co-leads the chiroptera research area, with Dr. Xavier Puig, from the BiBio research group.
