Xavier Puig Montserrat

Xavier Puig is an environmentalist and holds a PhD in Environment. He specialized in the ecology of bats in agroecosystems, both from the functional perspective of pest-predator interaction and from the perspective of conservation. His interest focuses on the study of the distribution, ecology and conservation of fauna.

The integration of technology in chiropterological research has always been a central focus of his work, developing and implementing solutions that have allowed the growth of an extensive network of monitoring stations in Catalonia.

He currently advises the administration on best practices to mitigate the impact of renewable energies and other infrastructures on fauna. Dissemination is a fundamental part of his work, participating in books, documentaries, television programs, scientific articles and conferences, aimed at both the scientific and general public.
