Maria Soria Extremera holds a PhD in ecology and environmental sciences, specialising in river ecosystems. Her research focuses on the responses of macroinvertebrate communities to anthropogenic impacts in temporary rivers, as well as on the inclusion of these ecosystems in the Water Framework Directive through the development of biomonitoring tools and the adaptation of participatory processes. Maria is committed to scientific dissemination and citizen science. She has been involved in the RiuNet project since 2016 and has been part of the coordinating team since 2020. Since 2021, she is also involved in the project “Llegim el riu” de la Diputació de Barcelona.
