Ferran Sayol

Team coordinator

Ferran Sayol is a biologist with a PhD in Terrestrial Ecology. His research focuses on understanding how fauna respond to human impacts and what consequences defaunation has for ecosystem functioning. The ultimate goal of his work is to better quantify current biodiversity loss and identify which species or groups require greater conservation attention. During his postdoctoral career, he has worked in Sweden and the United Kingdom, participating in several international projects on species extinction and its ecological effects. He has received a Ramon y Cajal fellowship and currently leads a research group within the Biodiversity and Bioindicators (BiBio) team at the BETA Technological Centre. There, he also coordinates the citizen science programmes for the monitoring of terrestrial mammals.
