Escola Vic Centre starts a Magnet alliance with the BETA TC
The collaboration between CT BETA and the Escola Vic Centre will give teachers direct access to research staff

The Escola Vic Centre has presented this week its participation in the Magnet programme: Alliances for educational success, an initiative promoted by the Bofill Foundation and the Department of Education of the Generalitat de Catalunya, with the collaboration of the City Council of Vic. The event was attended by authorities and institutional representatives, as well as the teaching staff of the centre and the BETA Technological Centre of the UVic-UCC, the institution with which this new alliance has been established.
The collaboration between CT BETA and the Escola Vic Centre will give teachers direct access to the research staff of CT BETA and take advantage of their experience to transform the way science is taught at all levels. This partnership will foster a more innovative education, connected to research and aligned with today’s major environmental challenges.
‘We firmly believe that science, the environment and ecology should be accessible to everyone, especially children and young people, because they are the ones who will drive the great changes of the future,’ said Laia Llenas, deputy director of the BETA Technology Centre.

A transformative project for the school and the city
Escola Vic Centre is one of six new schools selected this year to take part in the Magnet programme, which seeks to establish partnerships between schools and leading institutions in a specific field. This connection will allow the school community to discover first-hand research in sustainability, circular economy and biodiversity, working together with researchers from CT BETA.
In addition, joint actions will be promoted on key dates such as the European Research Night or the World Day of Girls and Women in Science, encouraging the participation of children in scientific activities.
‘It is not just a project of a school or a research centre, but a collaboration that connects us as an educational and scientific community,’ added Llenas.
Magnet: 10 years of partnerships for educational success
The Magnet programme has more than 47 participating schools in Catalonia and promotes educational excellence through partnerships with leading institutions.
With this alliance, the Escola Vic Centre wants to continue consolidating an innovative educational project with a direct impact on the students and the educational community of Vic.
