The Network for Nature Conservation moves its offices to Can Baumann, headquarters of the CT BETA

The XCN is a non-profit organisation comprising 201 members from across Catalonia.

Since June, the Network for the Conservation of Nature (XCN) has relocated its technical office to Can Baumann, home to the BETA Technology Centre of the University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia. This change marks a new chapter for the organisation, which has conducted its operations from Sagrada Família 7 in Vic, at the Miramarges Campus, for over 20 years. This address will remain the organisation’s fiscal and postal headquarters.

The XCN is a non-profit organisation comprising 201 members from across Catalonia, including environmental associations, foundations, companies, public administrations, and research centres. Its mission is to promote the conservation of nature and natural heritage, and it is particularly renowned for its stewardship of the territory, with almost 800 active initiatives covering over 41,700 hectares. The XCN also promotes environmental volunteering and high-profile initiatives such as Nature Week.

With a technical team of 15 people, the XCN is now entering a new phase by sharing a space with the CT BETA. This proximity could lead to strategic collaborations, knowledge and tool exchanges, and new synergies that would strengthen the connections between CT BETA’s research and initiatives working directly on the territory.

The collaboration between the CT BETA and the XCN is particularly well-placed to foster joint initiatives in areas such as citizen science, biodiversity research and monitoring, and the sustainable management of agricultural, fluvial, and coastal habitats. The two teams’ complementary expertise can generate new opportunities to advance towards more integrated and sustainable management of the natural environment.
