The Mancomunitat La Plana and BETA sign a collaboration agreement to strengthen waste reuse in Osona
The agreement will allow new reuse, repair and citizen participation initiatives to be promoted.
The BETA Technology Center of the University of Vic-Central University of Catalonia and the Mancomunitat la Plana sign a collaboration agreement to jointly promote reuse, waste prevention and circular economy actions in the municipalities of Osona and Moianès.
This agreement strengthens the collaboration between the two entities within the framework of the European project Gov4GreenMed, which aims to improve waste management systems through the active participation of citizens and the development of new reuse circuits.
The Mancomunitat la Plana, which serves 14 towns in both counties, will act as a pilot territory to expand and consolidate reuse initiatives, promoting the repair of objects, their reuse and the reduction of waste. BETA will provide scientific and technical support to analyze, optimize and improve these processes, as well as to generate knowledge that can be applied in other territories.
As Laia Llenas, deputy director of the BETA Technology Center, highlights, “we like scientific knowledge to have a real impact on the territory. This agreement allows us to put our research and innovation capacity at the service of the La Plana Community and work together to strengthen and scale initiatives that can become benchmarks and be truly useful.”
For its part, the Mancomunitat la Plana has noted that this agreement will allow for the strengthening of initiatives that are already being developed in the territory.
In this sense, the vice president of the Mancomunitat and head of the Environment and Climate Action area, Xavier Rierola Rovira, details that “this agreement allows us to advance in the optimization of the waste management model in our towns for benchmark urban waste management and the promotion of reuse as a driver of change.”
