Job description
We are looking for a technical manager for competitive projects in the field of governance for sustainability to join the centre’s team.
The successful candidate will join the BETA Technology Centre’s Governance for Sustainability team, supporting the principal investigator in coordinating the Innovative Sustainable Economy (ISE) Mission of the Interreg Euro-MED programme, and the implementation of the SEACURE project under the Horizon Europe (HE) programme, amongst others.
On the one hand, the ISE Mission drives the transition towards a circular economy in the Mediterranean region through two governance projects and thematic projects that integrate technical innovation into public policy.
On the other hand, the HE SEACURE project aims to tackle pollution caused by excess nutrients (nitrogen and phosphorus) in the soil-river-sea system in the Mediterranean.
– Support for the coordination and technical management of competitive R&D projects and multi-stakeholder regional cooperation.
– Identification, analysis and systematic mapping of relevant knowledge and policy priorities within a specific context to establish a clear and comprehensive state of the art.
– Increasing the impact of research through capitalisation processes, as well as transferring the most relevant results to stakeholders, promoting the creation of future activities.
– Contributing to the contextualisation and design of policy papers and technical white papers.
– Identifying, monitoring and facilitating synergies with initiatives outside the projects.
– Design and organisation of events and conferences within the framework of the projects. This includes participatory activities with quadruple helix stakeholders and training sessions (e.g. workshops, webinars, masterclasses…) related to the projects’ technical solutions and results.
– You will be able to support the implementation and monitoring of other strategic projects in the field of governance.
– You may assist in drafting new proposals for competitive funding.
Requirements
Decree on recognition of qualifications of teaching and research staff and professional services staff
According to Spanish Royal Decree 889/2022, recognition of qualifications issued abroad qualifies for the exercise of regulated professions in Spain.
If you apply for a professional services staff (PTGAS) post without the required recognised university degree, you may submit a declaration of equivalence of your degree in Spain, together with a translation of the degree into Spanish. The application for this declaration is also valid, subject to a commitment to submit the declaration of equivalence itself within a period of 3 years at most. If the requirement is not met within this period, the contract will be terminated in accordance with Article 49 (b) of Spanish Royal Legislative Decree 2/2015, of 23rd October, approving the revised text of the Workers’ Statute.
If you hold a recognised Spanish master’s degree, you may qualify for hiring, but this will not exempt you from the requirement to submit a declaration of equivalence of the qualification in the call.
- Title: Intermediate vocational training in fields related to the subject of the call for applications
- Certification of Level C1 in Catalan or commitment to obtain it.
- Accreditation of Level B2 English or commitment to obtain it.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
- Experience in project management, preferably within the circular economy sector.
- Knowledge of sustainability, the bioeconomy, and the green and circular economy.
- Knowledge of the Mediterranean region.
- Organisational and time-management skills.
- A strategic, systemic and dynamic approach.
- Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
Merits
• Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, International Relations, Global Studies, Diplomacy, International Development, Environmental Science, Biotechnology, Agronomy or similar fields.
• PhD in Political Science, International Relations, Global Studies, Diplomacy, International Development, Environmental Science, Biotechnology, Agronomy or similar fields.
• Previous experience in the technical management of competitive research projects.
• Knowledge of knowledge capitalisation and knowledge management processes.
• Additional training or experience in research management and knowledge transfer.
• Other languages (e.g. French, Arabic, etc.).
