Job description
We are looking for a senior technician with experience in agroecology to assist the project’s principal investigator in coordinating the technical implementation of the PRIMA project ‘Nurturing Agroecological Balance through Ancestral Traditions and Adaptation (NABATA)’* Growing Climate-Resilient Farming Systems from Traditional Roots’, and who will join the Sustainable Agricultural and Food Systems team at the BETA Technology Centre at the UVIC.
• Support the coordination of the NABATA project’s implementation, ensuring that the established objectives, outcomes and deadlines are met.
• Support the planning, implementation and monitoring of project activities, particularly those relating to the development and validation of agroecological practices based on the integration of traditional ecological knowledge and modern scientific research.
• Assist the project’s principal investigator with coordination and communication tasks between the various consortium partners, paying particular attention to teams and stakeholders in the southern Mediterranean countries (Morocco, Egypt and Turkey).
• Participate in the design, monitoring and evaluation of pilot actions, field activities and participatory processes with farmers, local communities and other stakeholders.
• Contribute to the collection, systematisation and analysis of technical and scientific data generated within the framework of the project.
• Support the drafting of technical and financial reports, as well as the preparation of dissemination and knowledge transfer materials.
• Ensure the technical quality of activities and their alignment with the project’s objectives and the requirements of the funding programme (PRIMA).
• Collaborate in the organisation of meetings, workshops, field visits and other coordination and training activities related to the project.
Requirements
Decree on recognition of qualifications of teaching and research staff and professional services staff
According to Spanish Royal Decree 889/2022, recognition of qualifications issued abroad qualifies for the exercise of regulated professions in Spain.
If you apply for a professional services staff (PTGAS) post without the required recognised university degree, you may submit a declaration of equivalence of your degree in Spain, together with a translation of the degree into Spanish. The application for this declaration is also valid, subject to a commitment to submit the declaration of equivalence itself within a period of 3 years at most. If the requirement is not met within this period, the contract will be terminated in accordance with Article 49 (b) of Spanish Royal Legislative Decree 2/2015, of 23rd October, approving the revised text of the Workers’ Statute.
If you hold a recognised Spanish master’s degree, you may qualify for hiring, but this will not exempt you from the requirement to submit a declaration of equivalence of the qualification in the call.
If you submit a non-university qualification, when call provisions allow for this, you should include recognition of the qualification in accordance with the specific regulatory framework of the country of origin.
- Title: Advanced vocational training in fields related to the subject of the call for applications.
- Certification of Level C1 in Catalan or commitment to obtain it.
- Accreditation of Level B2 English or commitment to obtain it.
- Demonstrable experience in the management or technical coordination of research, innovation or international cooperation projects (PRIMA, Horizon Europe, Interreg, etc.).
- Experience in projects related to agroecology, sustainable agriculture, agri-food systems or rural development.
- Ability to plan, monitor and coordinate project activities.
- Knowledge of participatory methodologies and co-creation processes involving local stakeholders (farmers, communities, public authorities, etc.).
- Ability to collect, manage and analyse technical or scientific data.
- Ability to draft technical reports and project documentation.
- Knowledge of the principles of agroecology and the integration of local and scientific knowledge.
- Strong communication skills (written and oral) and the ability to work independently and with internal and external teams in multidisciplinary and multicultural environments.
Merits
• A degree in agricultural engineering, environmental sciences, agroecology, rural development, geography, biology or related fields.
• Postgraduate qualifications (Master’s or PhD) in agroecology, sustainable agri-food systems, international cooperation, rural development or related areas.
• Previous experience in European projects (particularly PRIMA, Horizon Europe or similar programmes).
• Experience of working in international contexts, particularly in southern Mediterranean countries.
• Scientific publications in the proposed field of research
• Knowledge of French or Arabic.
