Description:
The BETA Technological Center is made up of a young multidisciplinary team of more than 90 researchers, and is looking to incorporate a dynamic person, with leadership skills and willing to be part of this project. We are looking for a person with high knowledge in the field of product and process sustainability assessment, as well as with management experience.

The candidate will join BETA’s “sustainability accounting and optimization” research line as the scientific manager of the tasks related to the assessment of the sustainability of several European projects, as well as ‘some transfer projects with companies. In addition, the person will also have team management tasks, having other technicians and junior researchers in charge.

 

Functions and duties:
• Responsible and scientific coordinator of European projects. Specifically participation/leadership of consortium meetings, preparation and coordination of deliverables, scientific management of the consortium, etc.
• Main manager and executor of transfer projects with companies.
• Responsible and supervisor of other technicians and researchers.
• Request for new proposals to raise new European funding.
• Promotion of new projects with companies.
• Representation of the BETA Technological Center in various networks and working groups.

Requirements

Spanish Decree on recognition of qualifications of teaching and research staff, and service staff

According to Spanish Royal Decree 889/2022, those who apply for teaching and research staff (PDI) or service staff (PAS) posts should have any qualifications issued abroad officially recognised in Spain, since such approval qualifies for the exercise of regulated professions in Spain. Research-only staff are exempt from this requirement.

  • University degree in the field: Degree in chemical engineering, biotechnology, biology, environmental sciences or similar
  • Certification of Level C1 in Catalan or commitment to obtain it.
  • Accreditation of Level B2 English or commitment to obtain it.
  • Advanced knowledge of life cycle analysis software, especially OpenLCA (also Gabi and/or SimaPro).
  • Previous participation in competitive research projects, preferably European.
  • At least 3 years of experience performing LCA studies at the research or industry level for products, services or processes
  • Knowledge of sustainability standards and regulations, including ISO 14040/44 and other relevant guidelines (ISO 14025, EN 15804, ISO 14067, ISO 14047, EPD, PEF among others)
  • Previous experience in team management.
  • Good communication and networking skills.
