Description:
The BETA Technology Centre is formed by a young multidisciplinary team of more than 100 researchers, and is looking for a dynamic person with leadership skills and eager to be part of this project. We are looking for a person who will be responsible for the instrumental analysis laboratory of the Centre. The BETA Technology Centre has grown exponentially since its creation at the end of 2014 and since March 2021 the centre has new facilities with more than 800 m2 of laboratory and pilot plant spaces. Within these new spaces, the instrumental analysis laboratory is a key part and currently has the following instrumentation: gas chromatographs (with ECD, FID, MS and TCD detectors), liquid chromatographs (HPLC and IC), CHN elemental analysers, and absorption spectroscopy.

 

Functions and duties:
– Fine-tuning of instrumental analysis equipment.
– Set-up of new analytical methods according to the needs of the researchers.
– Ensuring the proper use and operation of the equipment.
– Periodic maintenance of equipment.
– Supporting researchers in the analysis of samples. – To guarantee the quality of the results obtained in the instrumental laboratory.
– Training of new research staff in the use of the instrumental analysis equipment.

Requirements

Spanish Decree on recognition of qualifications of teaching and research staff, and service staff

According to Spanish Royal Decree 889/2022, those who apply for teaching and research staff (PDI) or service staff (PAS) posts should have any qualifications issued abroad officially recognised in Spain, since such approval qualifies for the exercise of regulated professions in Spain. Research-only staff are exempt from this requirement.

  • Qualification: Higher level training cycle or equivalent in fields related to the object of the call for applications.
  • Accreditation of Level C1 in English or commitment to obtain it.
  • Accreditation of Level B2 in English or commitment to obtain it.
  • Previous work in other chemical analysis laboratories, preferably in the field of the environment.
  • Having worked in the field of research, either at university or research centre level.
  • Knowledge and previous work with instrumental analytical techniques, such as: Ion Chromatography, Liquid and Gas Chromatography, Atomic Absorption, among others.

Merits

– University Degree: Degree or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering or similar.
– PhD in Chemistry, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering or similar.
