Description:
The BETA Technology Centre is formed by a young multidisciplinary team of more than 80 researchers and seeks to incorporate a dynamic person, with leadership capacity and eager to be part of this project.
We are looking for a specialist in soil organic carbon modelling and sustainability assessment.
The candidate will join the “sustainability accounting and optimization” research line as technical responsible for tasks related to food losses and waste burdens accounting, assessment in the agri-food sector for incorporating in the sustainability assessment of the technologies and processes developed in the framework of several projects both European, national and transfer with companies.
The candidate will also collaborate in the preparation of new proposals to attract new funding.

 

Functions and duties:
• Responsible for supporting the management of the project (attendance at project meetings, preparation of deliverables, reports, etc.).
• Technical responsible of the tasks related to the evaluation and optimization of sustainability in competitive projects: Environmental, economic and social sustainability.
• Technical support on food loss and waste modelling and accounting for different food systems, for their incorporation in LCA methods and digital tools developed by the Digitalization group.
• Participation in the pre parathion of new proposals to raise new funding.

Requirements

Spanish Decree on recognition of qualifications of teaching and research staff, and service staff

According to Spanish Royal Decree 889/2022, those who apply for teaching and research staff (PDI) or service staff (PAS) posts should have any qualifications issued abroad officially recognised in Spain, since such approval qualifies for the exercise of regulated professions in Spain. Research-only staff are exempt from this requirement.

  • Vocational training
  • Certification of Level C1 in Catalan or commitment to obtain it.
  • Accreditation of Level B2 English or commitment to obtain it.
  • Advanced knowledge of life cycle assessment methodology .
  • Knowledge software (OpenLCA, Gabi and /or SimaPro).

Merits

• Bachelor’s degree in food science, Environmental Sciences, or related disciplines.
• Master’s Degre or PhD in Food Science or related disciplines (Food engineering, Environmental Sciences, Statistics, and data analysis, etc.) with a solid background in agricultural environments.
• Relevant research in Sustainable Food systems.
• Research experience.
• Previous experience in the execution of projects in the field of food systems or related topics.
• Technical skills in analysing data, modelling, Life cycle assessment, life cycle costing and social life cycle assessment.
