Job description

Description:
The BETA Technology Centre is formed by a young multidisciplinary team of more than 80 researchers and is looking for a dynamic person who is eager to be part of this project.
We are looking for a senior technician in the field of citizen participation and flood risk management who will support the researchers of the Applied Ecology and Global Change Unit in several competitive and transfer projects focused on applied ecology in both aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems.
We are looking for a person with the desire and capacity to become the focal point for activities and projects on citizen participation and flood risk management.

 

Functions and duties:
– Drafting of reports in the framework of European and national projects.
– Design of participatory workshops for the dynamisation of different stakeholders.
– Implementation of educational courses and workshops aimed at effective behavioural change by the participating community.
– Contribution to the drafting of new proposals for participatory and citizen science projects in the environmental field.
– Data collection and evaluation of the carbon footprint associated with the implementation of ongoing European projects.
– Contribution to the implementation of citizen science projects currently underway in the unit.
– Support to the implementation and coordination of a European project focusing on integrated solutions to reduce the risks associated with flash flood events in the Mediterranean region.

Requirements

Spanish Decree on recognition of qualifications of teaching and research staff, and service staff

According to Spanish Royal Decree 889/2022, those who apply for teaching and research staff (PDI) or service staff (PAS) posts should have any qualifications issued abroad officially recognised in Spain, since such approval qualifies for the exercise of regulated professions in Spain. Research-only staff are exempt from this requirement.

  • Vocational training:  Higher Level Training Cycle in the field of environmental sciences, biology, water resources or similar.
  • Certification of Level C1 in Catalan or commitment to obtain it.
  • Accreditation of Level B2 English or commitment to obtain it.
  • Experience in the implementation of citizen participation and citizen science actions.
  • Knowledge of issues associated with the consequences of climate change, particularly flash floods and their management.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
