Description:
The BETA Technology Centre is formed by a young multidisciplinary team of more than 100 researchers, and is looking for a dynamic and motivated person eager to be part of this project. One of the main points of CT BETA’s mission is to be a key actor for the sustainable development of society, with special impact on the territorial scope, and on rural societies, through strategic projects in the field of bioeconomy that allow to dynamize the territories/regions and to transfer knowledge, technologies and innovation. CT BETA focuses its efforts on several key areas, such as the use of environmental technologies and nature-based solutions to manage organic waste, reduce greenhouse gas and ammonia emissions and obtain regenerated water for subsequent uses. It also excels in the production of biofertilisers and biostimulants to improve nutrient circularity and increase soil organic matter, promoting regenerative agriculture and agroecology with sustainable practices and technologies. In addition, he/she has extensive experience in quantifying the sustainability of products and production processes, especially in the agri-food sector, among others. The selected person will join the Territorial and Sectorial Projects and Transfer Unit. The main objectives of this Unit are: 1) the promotion of knowledge transfer from the centre to the agents of the sector, mainly companies and public administration in the agri-food sector; 2) the implementation of strategic projects at territorial and sectoral level to increase sustainability and promote the bioeconomy in rural environments.

Functions and duties:
– Support the units of the centre to enhance knowledge transfer to the agents of the agri-food sector, promoting the bioeconomy and sustainability.
– To foster collaboration between the centre and the agents of the sector through research, innovation and transfer projects and contracts.
– Organise and support transfer activities such as technical conferences, working sessions, demonstrative activities, congresses and technical visits.
– Identify and manage calls for funding to promote transfer projects, with special emphasis on the agri-food sector.
– Maintain close contact with companies in the sector to attend to their needs, offer support in the preparation and execution of projects and encourage collaboration.
– To promote and participate in strategic initiatives and projects of the Beta Technology Centre focused on the agri-food sector and the development of rural areas.
– Actively contribute to strategic projects in the sector and the territory, promoted by the centre itself, by the public administration, by sectoral clusters or by agri-food companies and cooperatives.
– Publicise and promote the Beta Technology Centre, its capabilities and services to relevant actors in the territory, as well as in strategic conferences.
– To carry out strategic monitoring of the technological context and the strengths of the centre in order to detect opportunities and challenges.

Requirements

Spanish Decree on recognition of qualifications of teaching and research staff, and service staff

According to Spanish Royal Decree 889/2022, those who apply for teaching and research staff (PDI) or service staff (PAS) posts should have any qualifications issued abroad officially recognised in Spain, since such approval qualifies for the exercise of regulated professions in Spain. Research-only staff are exempt from this requirement.

  • Vocational training: Higher level training cycle or equivalent in fields related to the subject of the call for applications.
  • Certification of Level C1 in Catalan or commitment to obtain it.
  • Accreditation of Level B2 English or commitment to obtain it.
  • Knowledge of the agri-food sector and its needs and challenges.
  • Ability to empathise and communicate with agents, companies and organisations in the sector.
  • High level of office suite, including spreadsheets.
  • Motivation and desire to promote, through research and innovation, the bioeconomy and the improvement of the sustainability of the agri-food and environmental sector, the territory and society, especially in rural environments.
  • Communication and networking skills.
  • Ability to relate and work as part of a team, results-oriented and proactive.
  • Organisational skills. Ability and responsibility to work under tight deadlines.

Merits

– University degree in fields related to the agri-food sector, sustainability and bioeconomy.
– Master’s and PhD in the fields of the environment, engineering or similar. – Previous work with organisations and/or projects focused on the bioeconomy and sustainability of the agri-food sector or similar.
– Experience in organising meetings, webinars, networking activities, etc.
– Experience in public funding lines for the implementation of innovation and transfer projects. – Experience in the drafting of proposals for the attraction of competitive funding, both nationally and internationally.
– Experience in the elaboration of market studies and sectoral reports
– Development and implementation of strategic plans focused on bioeconomy and sustainability, especially in the agri-food sector and organic waste management.
