Job description

The BETA Technology Centre is a leading centre for applied research, innovation and knowledge transfer in the fields of sustainability, the circular bioeconomy and the agri-food sector. With a young and multidisciplinary team of more than 135 professionals, CT BETA works closely with companies, public administrations, clusters and local stakeholders to promote projects with a real impact on rural development and ecological transition.

Some of the centre’s main areas of work are:

– Environmental technologies and nature-based solutions.
– Management and recovery of organic waste.
– Reduction of greenhouse gas and ammonia emissions.
– Production of biofertilisers and biostimulants.
– Assessment of the sustainability of agri-food products and processes.
– Promotion of regenerative agriculture, agroecology and the territorial bioeconomy.

The successful candidate will join the Territorial and Sectoral Transfer and Projects Unit, whose mission is to:
1. Facilitate the effective transfer of knowledge, technologies and innovation from the centre to companies, administrations and agents in the sector.
2. To design and implement strategic territorial and sectoral projects aimed at improving sustainability, competitiveness and the bioeconomy, especially in the agri-food sector and in rural environments.

Functions and tasks:
• Support the centre’s researchers in promoting the transfer of knowledge to the agri-food and environmental sector.
• Foster collaboration with companies, cooperatives, clusters and public administrations, promoting research, innovation and transfer projects and contracts.
• Organise and coordinate transfer activities: technical conferences, participatory sessions, demonstrations, congresses, webinars and technical visits.
• Monitor and identify relevant funding calls (regional, national and European) linked to transfer, innovation and the bioeconomy.
• Maintain a direct and ongoing relationship with companies and agents in the sector to identify needs, define projects and support their implementation.
• Actively participate in strategic territorial and sectoral projects promoted by the centre, public administrations or collaborative initiatives.
• Contribute to the visibility and positioning of the centre, promoting its capabilities and services in key areas of the region and the sector.
• Carry out strategic and sectoral monitoring to identify opportunities, trends, challenges and new lines of action.
• Support the preparation of sectoral studies, strategic reports and documents to aid decision-making.

Requirements

Decree on the approval of qualifications of teaching and research staff, and professional service staff

According to Spanish Royal Decree 889/2022 (Reial Decret 889/2022), official recognition of qualifications issued abroad may grant access to regulated professions in Spain.

If you apply for a teaching and research staff (PDI) or 100% research staff (PI) post, and do not have official recognition of the qualification required in the call, you should submit a declaration of equivalence, together with a Spanish translation of your degree certificate. You can also submit your equivalence declaration application, undertaking to submit the official equivalence declaration within 3 years. (Non-compliance will lead to termination of your employment contract, in accordance with Article 49b of Spanish Royal Decree 2/2015 of 23 October, approving the revised text of the Workers’ Statute.)

If you apply for a professional service staff post (PTGAS) without official recognition of the university degree required in the call, you should submit a declaration of equivalence, together with a Spanish translation of your degree certificate. You can also submit an equivalence declaration application, undertaking to submit the official equivalence declaration within 3 years. (Non-compliance will lead to termination of your employment contract, in accordance with Article 49b of Spanish Royal Decree 2/2015 of 23 October, approving the revised text of the Workers’ Statute.) If you submit a non-university qualification, you should submit an official recognition certificate, conforming to the specific regulations for your country of origin.

  • Title: Higher vocational training or equivalent in fields related to the subject of the call for applications.
  • Certification of Level C1 in Catalan or commitment to obtain it.
  • Accreditation of Level B2 English or commitment to obtain it.
  • Knowledge of the agri-food sector and its challenges in sustainability, innovation and competitiveness.
  • Communication skills, empathy and ability to build relationships with companies, administrations and various agents.
  • Proficiency in Office, especially spreadsheets.
  • Proactive, results-oriented profile, with organisational and teamwork skills.
  • Motivation to contribute to the transition towards a more sustainable and circular agri-food model, especially in rural environments.

Merits

• University degree in fields related to agri-food, sustainability or the circular bioeconomy.
• Master’s degree and/or PhD in environmental science, engineering, agricultural science or similar.
• Previous experience in projects or organisations linked to the bioeconomy, sustainability and agri-food innovation.
• Experience in organising technical events, conferences, webinars and networking activities.
• Knowledge of public funding lines and innovation support instruments.
• Experience in drafting competitive proposals (national and/or international).
• Ability to prepare market studies, sector reports and strategic documents.
• Participation in the development or implementation of territorial or sectoral strategic plans in bioeconomy, sustainability or organic waste management.
