Description:
The BETA Technology Centre is formed by a young, multidisciplinary team of more than 90 researchers and is looking for a dynamic person who is eager to be part of this project. We are looking for a laboratory technician who will provide experimental and sample analysis support to the Researchers of the centre, focusing mainly on research and innovation projects of the Sustainable Agricultural and Food Systems Unit.

 

Functions and duties:
– Physico-chemical characterisation of soil and plant biomass samples.
– Respirometries and soil microbial biomass. – Field sampling.
– Soil organic matter increment studies.
– Execution of tests both at laboratory and field scale for the ag.ronomic evaluation of bio-fertiliser products

Requirements

Spanish Decree on recognition of qualifications of teaching and research staff, and service staff

According to Spanish Royal Decree 889/2022, those who apply for teaching and research staff (PDI) or service staff (PAS) posts should have any qualifications issued abroad officially recognised in Spain, since such approval qualifies for the exercise of regulated professions in Spain. Research-only staff are exempt from this requirement.

  • Vocational training: Intermediate-level vocational training in fields related to the subject of the call for applications.
  • Certification of Level C1 in Catalan or commitment to obtain it.
  • Accreditation of Level B2 English or commitment to obtain it.
  • Have previously worked in other chemical analysis laboratories, preferably in the field of soil sciences and research.
  • Have knowledge of classical analytical techniques (gravimetry and volumetry).

Merits

– University degree in: Agricultural Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Agronomy, Biotechnology, Plant Production, Environmental Sciences or similar.
– Experience in characterisation of samples and fertiliser products.
– Knowledge of Instrumental Analytical Chemistry, mainly: Ion Chromatography, Gas Chromatography, Atomic Absorption, Instrumental Combustion Techniques.
– Previous experience in soil sampling in the field.
