Job description
The BETA Technology Centre is made up of a young multidisciplinary team of more than 130 researchers and is looking to recruit a dynamic individual who is keen to be part of this adventure.
We are looking for a field technician to join the Sustainable Agricultural and Food Systems Unit team at the BETA Technology Centre at the University of Vic.
More specifically, the tasks to be performed by the selected candidate are:
– Field sampling.
– Handling soil and plant biomass samples.
– Assessing the condition of crops in the field and in greenhouses.
– Liaising with farmers within the framework of various European and national projects focused on achieving resilient agricultural systems to ensure food security, improve soil health and seek strategies to adapt to and mitigate the effects of climate change on agriculture.
Requirements
According to Spanish Royal Decree 889/2022 (Reial Decret 889/2022), official recognition of qualifications issued abroad may grant access to regulated professions in Spain.
If you apply for a teaching and research staff (PDI) or 100% research staff (PI) post, and do not have official recognition of the qualification required in the call, you should submit a declaration of equivalence, together with a Spanish translation of your degree certificate. You can also submit your equivalence declaration application, undertaking to submit the official equivalence declaration within 3 years. (Non-compliance will lead to termination of your employment contract, in accordance with Article 49b of Spanish Royal Decree 2/2015 of 23 October, approving the revised text of the Workers’ Statute.)
If you apply for a professional service staff post (PTGAS) without official recognition of the university degree required in the call, you should submit a declaration of equivalence, together with a Spanish translation of your degree certificate. You can also submit an equivalence declaration application, undertaking to submit the official equivalence declaration within 3 years. (Non-compliance will lead to termination of your employment contract, in accordance with Article 49b of Spanish Royal Decree 2/2015 of 23 October, approving the revised text of the Workers’ Statute.) If you submit a non-university qualification, you should submit an official recognition certificate, conforming to the specific regulations for your country of origin.
- Title: Intermediate vocational training in fields related to the subject of the call for applications
- Certification of Level C1 in Catalan or commitment to obtain it.
- Accreditation of Level B2 English or commitment to obtain it.
- Candidates are required to have previous experience in managing agricultural fields and crops.
- The candidate is required to have previous experience in greenhouse crop management.
- Candidates are required to have knowledge of classical laboratory analytical techniques (gravimetry and volumetry).
Merits
• University degree in: Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, Biotechnology, Plant Production, Environmental Sciences or similar
• Previous experience in field soil sampling
• Experience working directly with farmers and/or livestock breeders
• Experience in sample characterisation and fertiliser products
• Knowledge of Instrumental Analytical Chemistry, mainly: Ion Chromatography, Gas Chromatography, Atomic Absorption, Instrumental Combustion Techniques.
