Description:
The BETA Technological Center consists of a young multidisciplinary team of more than 80 researchers, and is looking for a dynamic person, with leadership skills and willing to be part of this project. We are looking for a person with good communication and networking skills and who has knowledge in the field of food loss and food waste.
The selected person will be integrated into the work team of the FOLOU project (Bringing knowledge and consensus to prevent and reduce food loss at the primary production stage. understanding, measuring, training, and adopting) where he/she will work mainly with the Catalan public administration.
The candidate will be part of the Governance for Sustainability Unit of the BETA Technological Center, with the aim of contributing on developing a new research line focused on food loss and food waste.

 

Functions and duties:
• Active participation in the tasks of the European FOLOU project, especially in all tasks related to the exploitation of results, contact with the public administration, promotion of the results to guarantee their impact, etc.
• Main contact with the Catalan public administration to jointly work on the exploitation strategy of the results of the FOLOU project at the Catalan level.
• Identification of relevant actors and networks at Catalan, Spanish and European level in the field of food loss and waste.
• Representation of the FOLOU project in relevant networks (national and European).
• Search for new financing opportunities in the area of food loss and waste, both at a competitive level and also at a private level.

Requirements

Spanish Decree on recognition of qualifications of teaching and research staff, and service staff

According to Spanish Royal Decree 889/2022, those who apply for teaching and research staff (PDI) or service staff (PAS) posts should have any qualifications issued abroad officially recognised in Spain, since such approval qualifies for the exercise of regulated professions in Spain. Research-only staff are exempt from this requirement.

  • University degree in the field: Degree in Environmental Sciences, Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Agricultural Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Social Sciences, Law, or similar.
  • Certification of Level C1 in Catalan or commitment to obtain it.
  • Accreditation of Level B2 English or commitment to obtain it.
  • Previous experience and knowledge in the field of food loss and food waste.
  • Knowledge of the public sector: operation, competences, regulatory processes, and legislation, etc.
  • Ability to advocate and increase the impact of the results.
  • High organizational skills.
  • High communication and networking skills: organization of events, networking, stakeholder engagement and teamwork.

Merits

• Previous participation in competitive European research projects, preferably coordinated.
• Experience in team leadership.
• Previous experience in the drafting of project proposals and participation in competitive European calls.
• Knowledge of national/regional, EU legislation and knowledge in the development of governance policies and mechanisms.
