The Catalan Minister of Justice and Democratic Quality visits BETA

During the visit, they learned first-hand about the center's scientific and technological activity

The Catalan Minister for Justice and Democratic Quality, Ramon Espadaler, and Gemma Cruz, delegate for Central Catalonia of the Department of Justice, visited the facilities of the BETA Technology Center of the UVic-UCC, in Can Baumann, this week.

During the visit, they learned first-hand about the center’s scientific and technological activity in the areas of bioeconomy, sustainability and the transformation of the rural world, as well as some of the applied research and transfer projects that it promotes in collaboration with administrations, companies and local actors.

During the meeting, the Minister was particularly interested in the steps that the BETA Technology Center has recently taken to become a new foundation and advance in the process of incorporation into the CERCA Network. This process represents a strategic step for the Center, as it reinforces its governance model, consolidates its projection within the Catalan research system, and strengthens its role as a key agent in the generation of knowledge aimed at social and territorial impact.

During the visit, the minister was also accompanied by the mayor of Vic and president of the FUBalmes, Albert Castells; the rector of the UVic-UCC, Josep Eladi Baños, and the general director of the Foundation for Higher Studies in Health Sciences (FESS), Marina Geli, in addition to the director of the CT BETA, Sergio Ponsá, and the deputy director of the center, Laia Llenas, among others.
