BETA organizes the second edition of a conference on soil health to address the challenges of the agricultural sector

The meeting brought together 67 participants from the entire agri-food chain

On March 13, the BETA Technological cenbtre organized, at the Manresa Agricultural School, the second edition of the training day on agronomic innovation for soil health, within the framework of the European projects DeliSoil and EVECSA and with the collaboration of the agricultural schools of Manresa and Solsonès.

The meeting brought together 67 participants from the entire agri-food chain, from farmers to researchers, students and companies, in a session focused on sharing knowledge and contrasting views on the state of soils in Catalonia.

Among the main challenges identified are the loss of organic matter, the decline in biodiversity, soil compaction and erosion, as well as the growing impact of drought and pests. These factors, as was highlighted during the day, increasingly condition the productivity and sustainability of the agricultural sector.

In parallel, several companies and initiatives (such as DASA, LABIN, Terra Viva, Living Char or AgroViver) presented solutions aimed at reversing these trends, especially through the valorization of residual biomass, the development of biofertilizers and biostimulants, or the application of new technologies such as biochar or sustainable substrates.

The day also served to strengthen collaboration between actors and to generate new connections between projects, centers and companies. In this context, a field visit was also made that allowed the contents worked on during the session to be applied and experiences to be shared on the ground.
