Julio Cruz Vila holds a degree in Biology and a master’s degree in Biodiversity, specialising in ecosystem conservation. His previous experience focuses on the effects of environmental stressors on macroinvertebrate communities in the Albufera of Valencia. In particular, his work evaluated the effect of these stressors on the respiratory rate of crustaceans. In addition, he has participated in several ecotoxicological trials to see the effect of pesticides and phytosanitary treatments on the aquatic communities of the Albufera de Valencia. At BETA, Julio is working on his PhD thesis focused on the effect of multiple environmental and human stressors on macroinvertebrate communities and biofilms in aquatic systems.
