Description:
The BETA Technology Centre is made up of a young multidisciplinary team of 90 researchers and is looking for a dynamic person who wants to be part of this adventure. We are looking for a Specialist Technician with experience in activities related to the application of measures for adaptation and mitigation to climate change, who will become part of the Sustainable Agricultural and Food Systems Unit of the UVic BETA Technology Centre.
The selected candidate will participate in several European and national projects related to restoring soil health, increasing biodiversity, and productivity of agrosystems. Specifically, the selected candidate will have a relevant role in coordinating the Prima TRANSFORMED project, which supports the implementation and promotion of successful agroforestry systems in saline and degraded areas to maintain soil health.

 

Functions and duties:
• Coordination of the TRANSFORMED European project
• Management of the consortium with partners from the southern Mediterranean, monitoring the correct execution of the project tasks, scheduling of meetings, preparation of deliverables, achievement of milestones, etc.
• Planning and execution of field experiments on the application of climate change adaptation and mitigation measures
• Technical management of competitive R&D projects with multiple actors
• Contribute to the development of new project proposals to attract new funding
• Participation in project meetings and international events
• Network and promote new collaborations with interest groups, international projects, and initiatives

Requirements

Spanish Decree on recognition of qualifications of teaching and research staff, and service staff

According to Spanish Royal Decree 889/2022, those who apply for teaching and research staff (PDI) or service staff (PAS) posts should have any qualifications issued abroad officially recognised in Spain, since such approval qualifies for the exercise of regulated professions in Spain. Research-only staff are exempt from this requirement.

  • University degree in the field: Agronomy, Biotechnology, Plant Production, Environmental Sciences or similar
  • Certification of Level C1 in Catalan or commitment to obtain it.
  • Accreditation of Level B2 English or commitment to obtain it.
  • More than 5 years of experience in the agricultural sector, working in the field of edaphology, agroforestry systems, saline, and desertified soils.
  • Experience in biochemical, biotechnological and/or microbiological methods.
  • Experience in field trials and collaboration with multiple actors.
  • Scientific publications in the proposed field of research
  • Good communication skills (written and oral) and ability to work independently and with internal and external teams in multidisciplinary and multicultural contexts.

Merits
