Job description
The BETA Technology Centre is formed by a young multidisciplinary team of 100 researchers and is looking for a dynamic person who is eager to be part of this project.
We are looking for a field technician who will become part of the team of the Sustainable Agricultural and Food Systems Unit of the BETA Technology Centre of the UVIC, and who will work in the framework of the project “TRANSITION. InnovaTive Resilient fArmiNg Systems in MedITerranean environmenTs. PCI2021-121959 funded by MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033” which deals with the evaluation of different agroforestry systems to increase crop resilience.
– Field trials.
– Management of soybean crops and plant biomass.
– Evaluation of crop condition in the field and in the greenhouse.
– Contact with farmers.
Requirements
Spanish Decree on recognition of qualifications of teaching and research staff, and service staff
According to Spanish Royal Decree 889/2022, those who apply for teaching and research staff (PDI) or service staff (PAS) posts should have any qualifications issued abroad officially recognised in Spain, since such approval qualifies for the exercise of regulated professions in Spain. Research-only staff are exempt from this requirement.

Vocational training: Intermediate degree in the field of soil sciences, environmental sciences, chemistry or equivalent.

Certification of Level C1 in Catalan or commitment to obtain it.

Accreditation of Level B2 English or commitment to obtain it.

The candidate is required to have previously worked in agricultural field and crop management.

The candidate is required to have previously worked in greenhouse crop management.

The candidate is required to have knowledge of classical laboratory analytical techniques (gravimetry and volumetry).
Merits
• University degree in: Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, Biotechnology, Plant Production, Environmental Sciences or similar.
• Previous experience in soil sampling in the field.
• Experience in working directly with farmers and/or livestock farmers.
• Experience in characterisation of samples and fertiliser products.
• Knowledge of Instrumental Analytical Chemistry, mainly: Ion Chromatography, Gas Chromatography, Atomic Absorption, Instrumental Combustion Techniques.
