BETA Technology Centre is formed by a young multidisciplinary team of more than 90 researchers, and is looking to incorporate a dynamic person, with leadership skills and eager to be part of this project who will lead the coordination of the centre’s laboratories.
The successful candidate will be responsible for a team of 6 laboratory technicians and will work together with the management and the team of researchers of the centre to ensure the proper functioning of all the activities of the laboratories and maintain the infrastructure of the centre in adequate conditions.

Functions and tasks:

  • Coordination and overall management of the BETA TC laboratories from an operational application, analysing internal and external requirements/needs in the centre, and including the relationship with customers and suppliers.
  • Revision and improvement of analysis protocols. – Ensuring the excellence and quality of the results obtained in the laboratories.
  • Management of the centre’s team of laboratory technicians and ensuring good communication with the other areas of CT BETA.
  • Analysis of the current Quality Plan and design of new protocols for the improvement of the current operation.
  • Responsible for the BETA TC infrastructures, and main contact with UVic-UCC in this aspect.
  • Promotion and search for opportunities for external analytical services.

Requirements

Decree on the accreditation of qualifications for teaching and research staff and administrative and service staff

According to Royal Decree 967/2014, it is necessary for people who apply for teaching and research staff (PDI) or administrative and service staff (PAS) to have the recognition of qualifications issued abroad, as it is this recognition that enables them to exercise a regulated profession in Spain. The group of research personnel (PI without teaching) is exempt from this obligation.

University degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology or similar.

Accreditation of Catalan proficiency level (Level C1) or be in a position to obtain it.

Accreditation of English level B2 or be in a position to obtain it.

Minimum experience of 5 years working in a chemical laboratory, preferably in the field of environmental chemistry.

Knowledge of classical analytical techniques (gravimetry and volumetry), instrumental techniques (ion chromatography, gas chromatography, atomic absorption, etc.) and microbiological techniques.

Knowledge in statistical analysis, design of experiments and quality control measures.

Previous experience in team leadership.

Merits
