Active participation of the BETA TC in the BIT Congress, a reference event of the bioeconomy in Catalonia

The BETA Technology Centre of the UVic-UCC has had a prominent participation, once again, in the BIT Congress held today Thursday and tomorrow Friday, taking part in many of the activities taking place during the two days and offering support to the organizers. In this second edition of the congress, the central theme is everything related to biogas production.
CT BETA has a permanent presence at the BIT Expo, occupying a stand where you can find general information about the centre, and informative materials related to some of the projects in which it is participating and that have to do directly or indirectly with biogas. In other words, from large European projects, such as SEMPREBIO, to projects of Operational Groups with companies within the framework of the Rural Development Plan, such as Fertieco, Bioferti+, FertiCap or BiocircularCap.
As for the programme of activities at the BIT Congress, tomorrow, Friday, Laura Mejías, researcher at CT BETA, will present the results of the AccelWater project in a scientific session on advances in applied research. Mabel Mora, also a researcher at CT BETA, will present digestate treatment technologies in a round table on management strategies for this by-product of biogas production.
For his part, the technology centre researcher Ricard Carreras was today in charge of moderating a round table to discuss possible models of biogas plants for the recovery of livestock manure. Finally, tomorrow, the director of CT BETA, Sergio Ponsá, will be one of the participants in a debate on the future of biogas in Catalonia.
A reference congress
The BIT is an event that takes place every two years simultaneously in Vic and Lleida, and is promoted by Vic City Council, Lleida Fair and the Department of Climate Action, Food and Rural Agenda of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
This congress was created in 2022 with the aim of promoting the transformation of the primary sector, encouraging the incorporation of business strategies and technological innovations that allow a more efficient, healthy and environmentally friendly production of food and bioproducts.
