Jordi Llimós Turet, new doctor of UVic-UCC
This thesis addresses the recovery of a model of lignocellulosic waste by proposing the production of enzymes.
On 3 March, and within the framework of the Doctoral Programme in “Experimental Sciences and Technologies”, the defence of Jordi Llimós Turet’s doctoral thesis entitled “Lignocellulolytic enzymes production via Solid-State Fermentation of agroindustrial residues: process optimization and application”, directed by Dr. Sergio Ponsá Salas, Dr. Teresa Gea Leiva and Dr. Òscar Mauricio Martínez Ávila, was held.
The examining board, formed by Dr. Adriana Artola Casacuberta, from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Dr. Maria Isabel Mora Garrido from the UVic-UCC and Dr. Joan Dosta Parras from the University of Barcelona, awarded the thesis with the qualification of Excellent “Cum Laude”.
In the words of the doctor: “This thesis addresses the valorisation of a model of lignocellulosic waste by proposing the production of lignocellulolytic enzymes by solid-state fermentation and specific fungal strains. One of the most valuable aspects to be highlighted is the analysis of the efficiency of the enzymes obtained and their use to obtain valuable bioproducts such as bioplastics”.
