Carme Tuneu Corral holds a degree in Biology, an MSc in Terrestrial Ecology and Biodiversity Management, and a PhD in Biodiversity, Genetics and Evolution. Her work in biodiversity conservation has led her to participate in research projects across Europe, Africa and South America.

Her current research focuses on understanding how biodiversity underpins key ecological functions and contributes to the maintenance of ecosystem services. She uses insectivorous bats as model organisms to investigate their role as natural regulators of arthropod populations, including agricultural pests and disease vectors, with direct implications for agricultural productivity and human health.

She has recently been awarded a Juan de la Cierva postdoctoral fellowship, which will enable her to consolidate and expand this line of research. Her goal is to continue generating scientific knowledge that supports biodiversity conservation and promotes more sustainable ecosystem management.
