Job description
We are seeking a Technician to work in the Centre’s instrumental analysis laboratory.
The BETA Technology Centre has experienced exponential growth since its creation in late 2014, and since March 2021 has been operating from new premises with over 800 m² of laboratories and pilot plant facilities.
Within these new facilities, the instrumental analysis laboratory is a key component and currently houses the following equipment: gas chromatographs (with ECD, FID, MS and TCD detectors), UV spectrophotometers, liquid chromatographs (HPLC and IC), CHN elemental analysers and flame atomic absorption spectroscopy.
• Carrying out routine sample analyses using the instrumental analysis equipment at the CT BETA.
• Carrying out regular maintenance on the equipment and carrying out minor repairs where necessary.
• Supporting researchers in the development of new analytical methods: conducting literature searches, developing the method, validating it where necessary, and drafting the protocol.
Requirements
Decree on recognition of qualifications of teaching and research staff and professional services staff
According to Spanish Royal Decree 889/2022, recognition of qualifications issued abroad qualifies for the exercise of regulated professions in Spain.
If you apply for a professional services staff (PTGAS) post without the required recognised university degree, you may submit a declaration of equivalence of your degree in Spain, together with a translation of the degree into Spanish. The application for this declaration is also valid, subject to a commitment to submit the declaration of equivalence itself within a period of 3 years at most. If the requirement is not met within this period, the contract will be terminated in accordance with Article 49 (b) of Spanish Royal Legislative Decree 2/2015, of 23rd October, approving the revised text of the Workers’ Statute.
If you hold a recognised Spanish master’s degree, you may qualify for hiring, but this will not exempt you from the requirement to submit a declaration of equivalence of the qualification in the call.
If you submit a non-university qualification, when call provisions allow for this, you should include recognition of the qualification in accordance with the specific regulatory framework of the country of origin.
- Title: Intermediate vocational training in fields related to the subject of the call for applications.
- Certification of Level C1 in Catalan or commitment to obtain it.
- Accreditation of Level B2 English or commitment to obtain it.
- Knowledge of and previous experience with instrumental analytical techniques, such as: ion chromatography, liquid and gas chromatography, atomic absorption, amongst others.
Merits
– University degree in: a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biotechnology, Environmental Sciences or a related field.
– PhD in Chemistry or a related field.
– Previous experience working in other instrumental analysis laboratories, preferably in the environmental sector.
– Experience working in research, either at universities or research centres.
