Job description

The BETA Technology Centre comprises a young, multidisciplinary team of over 150 researchers and is seeking to recruit a dynamic individual with leadership skills who is keen to be part of this project.
We are looking for someone to assess the sustainability of products and processes, particularly with expertise in industrial process technologies and modelling, as well as economic and environmental analysis (including Life Cycle Assessment – LCA).
The successful candidate will join the “sustainability accounting and optimisation” research group at the BETA Technology Centre as the scientific lead for tasks related to the sustainability assessment of various European projects, as well as some industry transfer projects.
Functions and duties:
• Support in carrying out sustainability assessments for various European projects.
• Coordination of technology transfer projects with industry.
• Submission of new proposals to secure funding.

Requirements

Decree on recognition of qualifications of teaching and research staff and professional services staff

According to Spanish Royal Decree 889/2022, recognition of qualifications issued abroad qualifies for the exercise of regulated professions in Spain.

If you apply for a professional services staff (PTGAS) post without the required recognised university degree, you may submit a declaration of equivalence of your degree in Spain, together with a translation of the degree into Spanish. The application for this declaration is also valid, subject to a commitment to submit the declaration of equivalence itself within a period of 3 years at most. If the requirement is not met within this period, the contract will be terminated in accordance with Article 49 (b) of Spanish Royal Legislative Decree 2/2015, of 23rd October, approving the revised text of the Workers’ Statute.

If you hold a recognised Spanish master’s degree, you may qualify for hiring, but this will not exempt you from the requirement to submit a declaration of equivalence of the qualification in the call.

If you submit a non-university qualification, when call provisions allow for this, you should include recognition of the qualification in accordance with the specific regulatory framework of the country of origin.

  • Title: Advanced vocational training in fields related to the subject of the call for applications.
  • Certification of Level C1 in Catalan or commitment to obtain it.
  • Accreditation of Level B2 English or commitment to obtain it.
  • Advanced proficiency in life cycle assessment software, particularly OpenLCA (as well as Gabi and/or SimaPro).
  • Previous experience in delivering projects with the private sector.

Merits

• PhD in Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Biology, Environmental Sciences or similar.
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Biology, Environmental Sciences or similar.
• Knowledge of chemical engineering modelling software (such as Aspen Plus and/or Super Pro Designer).
• Previous involvement in European projects.
• Programming skills.
