Job description

Description:
The BETA Technology Centre is a research and technology transfer centre specialising in sustainable rural development and the circular bioeconomy, based in Vic. It comprises a young, multidisciplinary team of around 150 people.
As part of its collaboration with the Granollers Natural History Museum, it is seeking to recruit a dynamic, responsible individual keen to join the Biodiversity and Bioindicators Research Group (BiBio), which studies biodiversity and its impact from global change.
The group focuses primarily on fauna, particularly through long-term monitoring programmes based on citizen science.
The successful candidate will be required to support a bat monitoring project in Catalonia and will be expected to carry out analytical work and process bioacoustic data, specifically managing the databases that feed into the citizen science portal www.ratpenat.org.
The project involves fieldwork support for the various monitoring protocols, as well as processing data stored on the portal. The role will also involve assisting with the installation and inspection of artificial bat boxes and the inspection of cavities used by cave-dwelling bats.
The position will be based primarily in Granollers, at the BiBio facilities.

Functions and duties:
• Assist with the development and support of the process for uploading acoustic files and their processing.
• Provide support during data processing and analysis from a biological perspective.
• Carry out statistical analyses in R and QGIS to analyse and compare the collected data.
• Support the team’s researchers.
• Cross-disciplinary collaboration on field campaigns.
• Support project coordination in relation to both fieldwork and analysis.
• Actively participate in the development of new bat sampling methodologies (e.g. bat boxes).
• Collaborate with contacts and engage in exchanges with research groups and external researchers involved in the project.
