Job description

The BETA Technology Centre is made up of a young multidisciplinary team of more than 140 researchers and is looking to recruit a dynamic, proactive and highly motivated person who is keen to be part of this project.
We are looking for a technical manager for competitive projects in the field of governance for sustainability to join the centre’s team.
The successful candidate will join the Governance for Sustainability team at the BETA Technology Centre to contribute to the growth, support and consolidation of the Science 4 Diplomacy & Cooperation strategic line.
They will work closely with different initiatives and projects aligned with the strategic objectives of the Science 4 Diplomacy & Cooperation line, aimed at building trust between countries, promoting joint responses to global challenges and encouraging the alignment of research and innovation ecosystems towards systemic transformations.
Within this framework, it will help to channel the scientific knowledge and experience of CT BETA in areas such as the circular bioeconomy, sustainable rural development and adaptation to climate change in order to support European integration processes, post-conflict reconstruction, capacity building in countries with lower levels of R+D and the structural transformation of innovation systems.
It will also contribute to promoting these strategic objectives by participating in high-level networks, forums and events, promoting new initiatives and identifying synergies and frameworks for collaboration with national and international actors.

 

Functions and duties:
– Technical management of projects and initiatives within the framework of European and international competitive funding programmes, including Horizon Europe, Interreg NextMED, Erasmus+ and other national and international cooperation funds.
– Technical-strategic collaboration for the coordination of the Science 4 Diplomacy & Cooperation line, contributing to the planning, monitoring and alignment of initiatives with institutional objectives.
– Development and strengthening of collaboration with organisations, government agencies and intergovernmental institutions in the field of international scientific cooperation.
– Planning, coordination and institutional representation at strategic events and high-level forums, promoting the visibility of the centre, the strategic line and its projects.
– Participation in the preparation and drafting of proposals for competitive funding at European and international level.

Requirements

Decree on recognition of qualifications of teaching and research staff and professional services staff

According to Spanish Royal Decree 889/2022, recognition of qualifications issued abroad qualifies for the exercise of regulated professions in Spain.

If you apply for a professional services staff (PTGAS) post without the required recognised university degree, you may submit a declaration of equivalence of your degree in Spain, together with a translation of the degree into Spanish. The application for this declaration is also valid, subject to a commitment to submit the declaration of equivalence itself within a period of 3 years at most. If the requirement is not met within this period, the contract will be terminated in accordance with Article 49 (b) of Spanish Royal Legislative Decree 2/2015, of 23rd October, approving the revised text of the Workers’ Statute. If you hold a recognised Spanish master’s degree, you may qualify for hiring, but this will not exempt you from the requirement to submit a declaration of equivalence of the qualification in the call.

  • Title: Degree or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Biotechnology, Agri-Food Systems, Environmental Economics or related fields.
  • Certification of Level C1 in Catalan or commitment to obtain it.
  • Accreditation of Level B2 English or commitment to obtain it.
  • Advanced proficiency in Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience in project implementation, preferably in the field of circular economy and/or science diplomacy.
  • Experience in policy analysis, strategic planning, and governance processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
