The BETA Technology Centre is made up of a young multidisciplinary team of 130 people, including research and technical staff, and is looking to recruit a dynamic individual who is keen to be part of this project.
We are looking for a European competitive projects technician to join the centre’s management team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the management, control and economic-financial monitoring of competitive European projects in progress until the final justification and economic closure of the project, supporting the researcher to ensure the correct implementation of the projects within the deadlines and formats required by each funding body.
The projects to be managed will include coordinated projects, where the person hired as Financial Manager will act as a liaison between the different members of the consortium and the funding agency in terms of administrative, legal and financial tasks.
They will also be able to support the centre’s researcher and Business Developer in the preparation of funding proposals and their submission and acceptance.
Functions and duties:
Active participation in the comprehensive management of competitive projects, mainly European (such as Horizon Europe), from start-up to closure. Tasks include:
– Control and monitoring of coordinated (mainly Horizon Europe Programme) and non-coordinated competitive projects.
– Preparation and management of agreements (Grant Agreement, Consortium Agreement) and possible changes or modifications (amendments).
– General coordination of the project: communication with the funding agency and consortium partners.
– Supporting the Principal Investigator in planning and monitoring project activities, deadlines and objectives.
– Technical monitoring of the project: planning and updating deliverables, reports, milestones and results.
– Organising meetings and events (internal and external) related to the project.
– Coordination of communication flow between consortium members and support in document management.
– Monitoring and management of the project budget: feasibility analysis, adjustments, preparation of financial justifications and support in audits.
– Control of staff dedication (timesheets) and support in the hiring of human resources or services related to the project.
– Registration and updating of project information in internal management tools.
Requirements
Decree on the approval of qualifications of teaching and research staff, and professional service staff
According to Spanish Royal Decree 889/2022 (Reial Decret 889/2022), official recognition of qualifications issued abroad may grant access to regulated professions in Spain.
If you apply for a teaching and research staff (PDI) or 100% research staff (PI) post, and do not have official recognition of the qualification required in the call, you should submit a declaration of equivalence, together with a Spanish translation of your degree certificate. You can also submit your equivalence declaration application, undertaking to submit the official equivalence declaration within 3 years. (Non-compliance will lead to termination of your employment contract, in accordance with Article 49b of Spanish Royal Decree 2/2015 of 23 October, approving the revised text of the Workers’ Statute.)
If you apply for a professional service staff post (PTGAS) without official recognition of the university degree required in the call, you should submit a declaration of equivalence, together with a Spanish translation of your degree certificate. You can also submit an equivalence declaration application, undertaking to submit the official equivalence declaration within 3 years. (Non-compliance will lead to termination of your employment contract, in accordance with Article 49b of Spanish Royal Decree 2/2015 of 23 October, approving the revised text of the Workers’ Statute.) If you submit a non-university qualification, you should submit an official recognition certificate, conforming to the specific regulations for your country of origin.
- Title: Higher vocational training or equivalent in fields related to the subject of the call.
- Certification of Level C1 in Catalan or commitment to obtain it.
- Accreditation of Level B2 English or commitment to obtain it.
- Advanced proficiency in Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
- Previous experience (minimum 2 years) in competitive research project management.
- Knowledge of European and international R&D&I funding programmes, especially knowledge of the H2020 and Horizon Europe programmes.
- Experience in the university or research centre environment.
- Organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
Merits
- University degree in environmental sciences, chemistry, biology, engineering, social sciences, law or similar.
- Doctorate degree.
- Experience in coordinating consortia for the development of European projects.
- C1 level of English.
- Knowledge of Spanish and Catalan R&D&I funding programmes.
