The BETA Technology Centre participates in the Conference on Innovation in the Agri-Food Sector in Catalonia

The event featured several round tables dedicated to disruptive projects in the agri-food sector

The BETA Technological centre at UVic-UCC participated this week in the Jornada d’Innovació en el Sector Agroalimentari de Catalunya, organised by the Department of Research and Universities and held at the Palau de Pedralbes. The meeting brought together institutional representatives, research centres, companies and start-ups with the aim of promoting research and innovation, sharing experiences and encouraging knowledge transfer in a sector that is key to the country’s economy and sustainable development.

Within this framework, the director of CT BETA, Sergio Ponsá, presented the work carried out in the European FOLOU project, which works to reduce food loss and waste throughout the value chain. His presentation highlighted the importance of having tools to measure and quantify food loss and how this knowledge is essential to move towards a more efficient and sustainable food chain.

The event also featured several round tables dedicated to disruptive projects in the agri-food sector, the presentation of the new network X_Agritech and the experiences of start-ups. The closing ceremony was led by the Minister for Research and Universities, Núria Montserrat, and the Minister for Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food, Òscar Ordeig.

CT BETA’s participation in this conference reflects the centre’s commitment to innovation and collaboration in the agri-food sector, contributing to the generation of applied knowledge and promoting the transition towards a more sustainable and competitive system that is aligned with European and global challenges.
